{"id":12473,"date":"2014-02-09T14:58:04","date_gmt":"2014-02-09T04:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?p=12473"},"modified":"2016-03-16T13:05:08","modified_gmt":"2016-03-16T03:05:08","slug":"inside-llewyn-davis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?p=12473","title":{"rendered":"Inside Llewyn Davis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?attachment_id=19490\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19490\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19490\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/llewynposter.jpg\" alt=\"llewynposter\" width=\"500\" height=\"741\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/llewynposter.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/llewynposter-202x300.jpg 202w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Directors: \u00a0<\/strong>Joel and Ethan Coen<br \/>\n<strong>Writers: \u00a0<\/strong>Joel and Ethan Coen<br \/>\n<strong>Cast: \u00a0<\/strong>Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman<\/p>\n<span class=\"dropcap\">A<\/span>h, the tortuous life of an aspiring folk musician.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s 1961 and Llewyn Davis is a part of the Sixties folk music scene in New York&#8217;s Greenwich Village, where a young Bob Dylan will soon make a name for himself.<\/p>\n<p>Llewyn plays songs at the Gaslight Cafe in front of a cluster of appreciative coffee sipping, chain smoking beatniks.\u00a0 This is his life.<\/p>\n<p>Not much goes Llewyn&#8217;s way.\u00a0 His musical partner Mike committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge, his new album Inside Llewyn Davis isn&#8217;t making money and he is homeless.<\/p>\n<p>Llewyn spends his days drifting from couch to couch, relying on the charity and goodwill of his long suffering friends Jean and the Gorfeins.\u00a0 You sense that Llewyn has been living this life for some time.\u00a0 He isn&#8217;t even particularly polite or appreciative when asking for a place to stay anymore.\u00a0 Mostly he is just indignant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?attachment_id=12475\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12475\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12475 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inside3.jpg\" alt=\"inside3\" width=\"630\" height=\"351\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inside3.jpg 630w, http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inside3-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Llewyn is a perpetual ne&#8217;er-do-well, cut from the same cloth as other Coen Brothers creations such as Jerry Lundegaard in <em>Fargo<\/em> and Ed Crane in <em>The Man Who Wasn&#8217;t There<\/em>.\u00a0 He seems to be perpetually stuck in a Catch 22 with love and money.\u00a0 Opportunities come and invariable they go.<\/p>\n<p>Llewyn lucks out and is invited to record a commercially successful pop song but he foolishly signs away his rights to receive royalties in exchange for a quick buck.<\/p>\n<p>The woman Llewyn loves loathes him and regrets their one night stand together.\u00a0 But he learns that his ex-girlfriend Diane who never enters his thoughts, tricked him into thinking she had an abortion and actually birthed their child in secret.<\/p>\n<p>Llewyn is inspired to strike out for the big time when he realizes a gormless half-witted military officer has secured a lucrative contract with producer Bud Grossman in Chicago.\u00a0 Llewyn goes a road trip to the Windy City to see if he can track down Bud and make himself a star.<\/p>\n<p><em>Inside Llewyn Davis<\/em> is a beautifully droll, laconic and soulful film.\u00a0 The Sixties folk music setting is the perfect environment for the Coen Brother&#8217;s inimitable style and characterization.\u00a0 All the peripheral characters in this film &#8211;
