513px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre Game\u00a0 <\/strong>Days after visiting &#8216;Canadia&#8217;, our Prime Minister Tony Abbott, the walking gaffe machine, gets the name of our captain wrong, referring to Mile Jedinak as Mike in his address to the Socceroos.\u00a0 It&#8217;s so weird how sloppy his minders are with this stuff.<\/p>\n<p>With an 8am kick off on a Saturday, this is the only Socceroos game of the tournament with a sensible kick off time.\u00a0 The others are on at 2am on a weeknight \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>I watched the game with my friend Suellen at King George Square in the city.\u00a0 There was about 400 people there with a pretty even split of Chileans and Aussies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/kinggeorge001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15682\" danger with his header and Sanchez scores a great poachers goal, beating Matt Ryan at the near post.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>14&#8242;\u00a0 <\/strong>GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLL\u00a0 Chile 2-0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Socceroos defense gets ripped to shreds.\u00a0 Valdivia receives the ball with acres of space on the edge of the penalty area.\u00a0 He still had plenty to do but a sweet swerving strike soars past Ryan and into the top corner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This looks like it could be a massacre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/84d882a6e4aa7176056b8ddd7d74d0a6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" towers above the defenders and smashes home a goal for the Socceroos with a powerful header.\u00a0 It was no less than they deserve after a period where they regathered their composure and poured on the attack.\u00a0 Great stuff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HALF TIME<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a poor start to the game, the Socceroos really made a good account of themselves in the last twenty minutes.\u00a0 Leckie, Cahill, Franjic have all looked superb.\u00a0 What can they conjure up in the second half?<\/p>\n<p><strong>51&#8242;\u00a0 <\/strong>Franjic off with a hamstring injury, noooooooooooooooo<\/p>\n<p><strong>60&#8242;\u00a0 <\/strong>Goddamn, so many chances, Bresciano knocking on the door and asking questions.\u00a0 Forced an excellent save out of the Chilean keeper.<\/p>\n<p><strong>62&#8242;\u00a0 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAALLLL, TIMMY WITH THE EQUALIZEERERRRRRRRRRROOOOHHHH GODDAMMIT HE WAS OFFSIDE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>75&#8242;\u00a0 <\/strong><em>*checks watch*<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>80&#8242;\u00a0 <\/strong>We&#8217;ve been terrific this half.\u00a0 Everything but a goal.\u00a0 Heart in mouth stuff for a moment when Chile sprung a counter attack and a shot bobbled past Matt Ryan.\u00a0 Only a goal line clearance from Alex Wilkinson kept the Socceroos in touch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>90&#8217;+2\u00a0 <\/strong>Goal, 3-1 Chile.\u00a0 Dammit.\u00a0 After a valiant and competitive second half, Chile finally kills the game dead with a goal from Beausejour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FULL TIME<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After being completely overawed in the opening stanza, the team made a fantastic account of themselves once Cahill scored his goal.\u00a0 There are some really promising signs from this young squad and they can be proud of their performance tonight.\u00a0 I&#8217;m devastated to see Franjic leave the field injured.\u00a0 Hopefully he can still contribute in this World Cup although I suspect his involvement may be over.<\/p>\n<p>I also think that his performance and assist in setting up the Soccerooos goal could lead to some clubs knocking on the door at Brisbane Roar.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been coming.<\/p>\n<p>Two games left.\u00a0 The rampaging Netherlands and a desperate Spanish side.\u00a0 Should be a lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I totally made it into the evening news:<\/p>\n<p
