known as Turf War &#8211; two teams of four inklings team up to cover a map in as much ink representing their team&#8217;s colour as they can in a three minute time limit.\u00a0 This inking mechanic means that even a player who typically isn&#8217;t adept at other more conventional online shooters can make a meaningful (arguably more telling) contribution to their team by focusing on splatting the map in their colours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Splatoon 3<\/em> is a robust new iteration of the game which also includes a new card collecting game called Tableturf Battle as well as the returning PvE mode Salmon Run.\u00a0 The game feels spoiled for content with a dozen maps available at launch, an incredible 55 weapon varieties and oodles of ways to customize your experience to make the game your own.\u00a0 As you play <em>Splatoon 3<\/em>\u00a0and accumulate the in-game currency, you can customize your\u00a0player\u00a0handle, your &#8220;splashtag&#8221;, clothing, accessories, stickers and knick-knacks for your locker and even buy food from a cafeteria which doles out perks for your inklings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?attachment_id=23948\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-23948\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23948\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/splatoon3-thumb.jpg\" alt=\"splatoon3-thumb\" width=\"620\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/splatoon3-thumb.jpg 620w, http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/splatoon3-thumb-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0Although I wouldn&#8217;t say there are any surprising new inclusions to\u00a0<em>Splatoon 3<\/em>, I think what I appreciate about the game is that it does everything it sets out too extremely well and with minimum hiccups.\u00a0 For an online game &#8211; something that is universally acknowledged not to be Nintendo&#8217;s strong suit &#8211; I find this to be particularly pleasing.\u00a0 Match-making is a breeze.\u00a0 Connecting to a Turf War take only a handful of seconds and the in-game algorithm for finding opponents of a similar skillset is very reliable.\u00a0 It&#8217;s great to see frequent themed events, known as Splatfests, give players extra incentive to fire up the game.\u00a0 Best of all, the game appears to be well supported with a new season of extra content including a new map and more weapons, already announced for the near future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The first\u00a0<em>Splatoon<\/em> game arrived in 2015 and sold just under five million units.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Splatoon 3<\/em> has already surpassed those numbers since its launch a few weeks back.\u00a0 The game has\u00a0notably become a hit phenomenon in Japan where it broke sales records and achieved a mind-boggling milestone of being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.videogameschronicle.com\/news\/69-of-all-physical-games-sold-in-japan-last-month-were-splatoon-3\/\">nearly 70% of <em>every game<\/em> sold in the month of September<\/a>.\u00a0 Just desserts for a game with such a fun vibe, a killer aesthetic, a banging soundtrack and an addictive &#8220;just one more go&#8221;
