{"id":3431,"date":"2010-11-24T22:37:12","date_gmt":"2010-11-24T12:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?p=3431"},"modified":"2010-11-24T22:40:31","modified_gmt":"2010-11-24T12:40:31","slug":"a-league-round-18-brisbane-roar-vs-perth-glory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/?p=3431","title":{"rendered":"A-League Round 18 &#8211; Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If the Brisbane Roar won this home fixture against the Perth Glory, they would tie the A-League record held by Adelaide United for the greatest run of matches without a defeat.\u00a0 <em>Thirteen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Glory have been a thoroughly awful side this year and only a handful\u00a0 garnered in the opening rounds of the season has seen them avoid being bottom of the league.\u00a0 They entered this game with a dismal two wins out of twelve.\u00a0 On paper it looked like it should be a straightforward proposition.\u00a0 The Roar have been showing signs of fatigue in their last two games though, their gruelling schedule of 11 games in 44 days starting to take its toll.<\/p>\n<p>The Glory started the game with Robbie Fowler on the bench.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou saw fit to start with Jean Carlos Solorzarno and rested Reinaldo.\u00a0 HOORAY!!!!<\/p>\n<p>Once the game got underway, it didn&#8217;t take long for the Roar to assert complete control of the game.\u00a0 They dominated possession, at times the stats registered that they had 80% of the ball.\u00a0 Eventually the pressure told and JLS slotted home a goal inside the box after clattering into a defender but managing to stay on his feet to fire in on the second attempt.\u00a0 The score remained that way till halftime.<\/p>\n<p>In the second half, the Roar went two up after a multitude of pressure on the Glory goal finally paid off.\u00a0 Defender Matt Smith rose above everyone else to head home a second for the Roar.\u00a0 Fowler finally got subbed on around the hour mark and scored a goal with his first touch.\u00a0 The Roar conceding a penalty by handball against the run of play.<\/p>\n<p>Solorzarno then got brought down in the box himself resulting in red card for Glory defender Scott Neville and the Costa Rican converted to score his second of the game and the third for the Roar.<\/p>\n<p>The Roar then had two other perfectly valid penalty appeals waved away and the Glory suddenly got their second goal when substitute Adriano Pellegrino scored from long range.\u00a0 The score stayed that way though and the game ended 3-2 to the Roar.\u00a0 The scoreline seriously flattered the visitors.<\/p>\n<p>After seeing the Central Coast Mariners held to a draw by the Newcastle Jets, the attention once again turns to Adelaide United who lie six points adrift but have two games in hand.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see how they go against the inform Gold Coast United on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>For now though, its celebration time for the Roar.\u00a0 Their performance so awesome and so dominating that it broke the league table on the Fox Sports website.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>BRISBANE ROAR 3 &#8211; PERTH GLORY 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/rnd18.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3432\" title=\"rnd18\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thefatwebsite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/rnd18.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"762\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If the Brisbane Roar won this home fixture against the Perth Glory, they would tie the A-League record held by Adelaide United for the greatest run of matches without a defeat.\u00a0 Thirteen.
