I participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge on Friday after being nominated by my niece Grace earlier in the week. I made my donation to an MND charity cause via MND Queensland where 100% of the donation goes to the group of your choosing.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has copped plenty of backlash in social media over the last fortnight. Complaints range from over-exposure, water wastage to lack of awareness about the cause itself. That said, it’s indisputable that this has been an online fad that has raised vast sums of money for ALS/MND charities and even though I suspect the trend will have a very short tail, it’s been no bad thing when you weigh up the fundraising benefits that have resulted from it. I’m sure other fund raising campaigners will be carefully studying the Ice Bucket Challenge phenomenon to see if they can capture lightning in a bottle twice.
If they can work out the formula, more power to them.
Have a good weekend!
P.S I was very cold for about an hour after this. Holy moly.
