Scapa 16 Year Old

DISTILLERY Scapa

TYPE Single Malt

ALCOHOL 40%

REGION Orkney

COLOR Amber gold

NOSE Caramel, heather, sweetness.

PALATE Impeccably balanced.  This is somehow peaty and warm yet smooth and has all the flavours the nose would suggest – it has a linger taste of sweet caramel.

FINISH Long, warm and lasting.

SCORE

87 out of 100

NOTES Jen picked up the Scapa for me in Duty Free on the way back from China.  I’ve never had an Orkney region whisky before and this dram made a great first impression.  It has a distinct flavour and feels really refined.  It shouldn’t be possible to blend peat and sweet this neat.

Where the heck are the Orkneys anyway?

Okay that is stupidly far north.  Seriously.  Wow.
