Youtube Friday: Anatomy of a fight scene

There’s still a couple of months left in 2014 but I’d be surprised if there’s a film that comes along that can match The Raid 2 for intensity and creativity when it comes to martial arts flicks.

The Raid 2 is an epic in its genre – its ambitious, super long and full of eye popping sequences that will leave your jaw agape.  This final fight that Rama has in the kitchen near the end of the film is absolutely brutal and right up there with my favourite choreographed fights that Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and Tony Jaa have done.

Speaking of staged fighting, Stone Cold Steve Austin recently did an audio commentary for his Wrestlemania X-7 match with The Rock where he basically breaks down the mechanics of how to work a wrestling match.  Someone on Reddit then laid the audio over a video feed of the match itself.  It’s a pretty cool insight into how wrestlers have to be aware of their ring positioning, time keeping and camera location.  When you see Austin consciously describe what goes on to make a match work, its pretty impressive seeing how wrestling ‘sleight of hand’ works.  You can check out that video here.

Have a good weekend everyone!
