Weekend of Catan

Picked up a new board game this weekend.  I’d heard a lot about Settlers of Catan before but never got around to playing it.  We picked it up from Mind Games over the weekend and played a couple of rounds with Jen and Dominic.

Turns out its pretty awesome and I’m not just saying that because I won the first game.  The game doesn’t take too long to play (an hour each round) and had a decent balance between luck, strategy and diplomacy.  It put me back into a boardgamey mood.  One of these days I need to get around to checking out eBay to see if there are any copies of HeroQuest floating around.  That game was the best.

Also traded in some old Guitar Hero games to get Bayonetta for free from JB, and also a copy of Dark City: Directors Cut on Blu Ray for a measley $15 bucks.

Ooh, and I found myself a new book to read over the weekend.  I’m trying out my first Haruki Murakami book Kafka On The Shore.  So far its very strange and I don’t really know whats going on.

  1. I’ve read one of Haruki Murakami’s other books Norwegian Wood. I really enjoyed it. I’ll see what you think of Kafka on the Shore, and if it’s any good I might have to check it out.
