Organic Char is a spin-off restaurant from the famous Brisbane steak restaurant Cha Cha Char. Organic Char opened in June last year and emphasizes ingredients that are sourced from organic, natural and sustainable sources.
Beyond that, the dishes themselves can best be described as modern Australian cuisine that incorporate a range of meat, seafood and vegetarian options. The menu is mainly fixed on entree sized portions which are encouraged to be shared by the whole table.
We went with the following courses:-
Roasted Organic Chicken
Salad of spiced watermelon, pickled ginger, watercress, soy & sesame
Jasmine smoked Ocean Trout, wasabi leaves, coconut sugar, chilli jam
Hervey Bay scallops, red curry, basil, banana chilli
Wood roasted pumpkin, sugar cane, coriander, Barambah yoghurt
Stir fried prawns, calamari, garlic, celery, shallots
Anise glazed pork belly, Asian greens, miso broth
Layered Valrhona chocolate cake with caramel sauce & chocolate ice cream
Strawberry mousse, toasted meringue, fresh berries & strawberry sorbet
Pear and puffed rice en papillote, yoghurt & manuka honeycomb
Food was fresh, prices reasonable, service decent and the company was excellent. All in all…a fantastic night.
