The FAT Website is a community blog which originally started in 1998 as “Edo’s FAT Website”, a personal home page hosted on GeoCities.com.

The site has existed in various formats (magazine style, community blog, satirical news site) and has had over 60 different staff members in its history, contributing to over 5,000 blogging entries.  Unfortunately, only a small percentage of these entries remain available today.

Although the website has seen many staff members and a short-lived spinoff site called The FAT Website: UK (FWUK), the remaining staff members have since consolidated and the core group of Edo, Mike, Matt, Pat, Dan, Angela and Sam have now been with the site for many years (with the occasional sabbatical between blogs).

The site was originally started as a means for the then-teenage bloggers to stay in touch after finishing high school as they began moving to different parts of the world.  The content of blog nowadays follows the lives of the writers as they move from adolescense and into their twenties.

The name ‘The FAT Website’ does not have a clear origin although it is often incorrectly attributed to Patrick’s immense girth.
