Kindle Surprise

Rediscovering reading has been one of the best things about this year.  It’s become a nightly habit to put on a pot of tea, hook up the iPod docking station, set to some random Sigur Ros album and read for a good hour or so before going to bed.  Being a slow reader and not having read for a few years, it feels like there is a metric butt-load of awesome books to catch up on.  With that in mind, I’m pretty psyched to get my Kindle.  It’s perfect for getting books cheaper and it also allows for immediate accessability for some of the harder to find books that Brisbane’s lacklustre book stores never seem to have.  The screen is very easy on the eyes and being able to read newspapers is a nice bonus.  I downloaded the next book in the Millenium trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire.  Now I can’t decide if I should finish The Greatest Show On Earth first or come back to it.

Having too many good books to choose from is a nice conundrum to have.

I also have tomorrow off, so I’ve got a long weekend to kick back and read.

Life is good.

  1. i have a dilemma with the Kindle. i totally want one but unless it had some option where the books you buy also come with an mp3 of someone reading them i would never use the blasted thing. and that’s basically an mp3 player anyways. so it’d just be a waste.

the old man has one and i played around with it a bit and it sure is sweet, just i have literally zero time to sit down a read a book, and would rather opt for the audio version given the choice. but that’s just me.

  2. Sounds like you need to lie down and relax more often, man.

  3. ooh i always wanted to have a play on one of those. Still think nothing will stop me from picking up an actual book though, a battered book is a good book!
